Fall Fair to Celebrate 75th Diamond Jubilee in Rock Creek After Two-Year Absence

Last November, the Rock Creek and Boundary Fair Association held its annual general meeting. At the meeting, it was decided that for the second year in a row, the Rock Creek Fall Fair’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration would be cancelled due to ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions.

Despite the lack of a major annual fundraising event like the Fall Fair, the RCBFA “weathered the storm” of the Pandemic, staying afloat through two years of funding challenges via “careful management” and well-spent grand and subsidy money, according to the Grand Forks Gazette.

This year, the “biggest little country fair around” proudly announced that it would return in-person for 2022. The two-day Fall Fair exhibition in Rock Creek is happening over the weekend of September 17 and 18. This long-awaited event is notably the Fall Fair’s 75th Diamond Jubilee celebration.

Originally called the Rock Creek and Boundary Fair, the annual exhibition first opened in 1946 and has been a regular event ever since.

“The fair began as a one day event to showcase agricultural products and to bring the community together for a day of fun,” organizers explain. The fair has expanded to two days and now includes other attractions, but “the country fair atmosphere remains.”

The fair remains a community event and is organized and presented primarily by volunteers. The emphasis of the Fall Fair remains on agriculture and home crafts, while animal shows and judging are a central part of the program.

Today’s fair venue has evolved from a community hall to a sixty-acre parcel with multiple buildings including a main pavilion decorated with local art and history.
