Most of Canada’s remaining travel restrictions—including requirements for wearing masks on aircraft, testing and quarantine, and compulsory use of the ArriveCan app—are gone October 1.
Many in Boundary Country are celebrating the long-awaited removal of the nonsensical measures, which were introduced sporadically and maintained despite a lack of data suggesting effectiveness against the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Airlines were significantly impacted when air travel became unnecessarily cumbersome. Craig Landry, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer at Air Canada, believes the lifting of rules “will greatly facilitate travel, help to continue stabilizing the country’s air transport sector, and support Canada’s economy.”
“Air Canada welcomes the removal of these restrictions, acknowledging that air travel is safe and that the measures were not justified by science,” the executive of Canada’s largest airline stated.
BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, also supported the Canadian government’s decision.

There are several US border crossings in British Columbia, including six in Boundary Country: Midway-Ferry, Carson-Danville, Cascade-Laurier, Paterson-Frontier, Nelway-Metaline Falls and Waneta-Boundary.
