As summer reveals its golden glow across Boundary Country, Christina Lake welcomes one and all to its annual Homecoming Summer Festival in July.
This time-honoured tradition, celebrated amidst the shimmering waters and hospitable spirit of the lakeside community, promises a jubilant toast to the season.
The festival encourages visitors to reawaken nostalgic memories of summer by the lake or to forge new ones. It’s an homage to local talents and a celebration of the region’s arts and culture painted against the backdrop of Christina Lake.
“Everyone is always invited to The Christina Lake Homecoming Summerfest in Celebration of our beautiful community of Christina Lake,” organizers state online. “The Homecoming Summerfest has become a tradition here in Christina Lake, a place where memories are shared and new ones are made.”
Bustling markets, a rollicking family beach party, beach volleyball, and a boat parade are all on deck as attendees enjoy live entertainment and indulge in barbecue fare.
“Many of our local organizations pull together to make this a great event,” organizers note, citing a Pickle Ball tournament celebrating Christina Lake’s latest recreation edition—the new Pickle Ball Courts on Ode Road—as one example.
Just down the road from pickle ball action is Christina Lake Community Hall, where other events are happening throughout, such as a Public Market, which provides a platform for artisans to showcase locally handcrafted items.
Wednesday, July 6 through Friday, July 8 feature evening itineraries. On the weekend, a Saturday Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Christina Lake Community Association kicks off the day from 8am-11am. The Casual Cruise In Show ‘N’ Shine is one for the auto enthusiasts, while kiddie waterslides are a hit with families.
As the final night falls, the festival reaches its crescendo with the Light Up the Lake Boat Parade. A spectacle of vibrant colour against the darkened waters, the parade offers a visually stunning conclusion to a day filled with fun, frolic, and camaraderie.
