The Midway Advance forever holds a place in Boundary Country history. It was the gold-rush settlement’s original journal of record. An issue was first published in April 1894, which was also the year Boundary City was renamed Midway.
The Advance ran from the village’s inaugural year through July 1903, when the weekly paper was rebranded as the Midway Dispatch under orders of new management.
Rising anew one century after the fall of the Dispatch, the Advance honours the rich heritage and modern majesty of Boundary Country through authentic journalism, accurate news, and handcrafted content that matters to British Columbians.
As a truly local and fiercely independent newspaper, we are determined to accurately represent the voice of the Boundary community. Thus, the Midway Advance is always open to letters and questions from local residents and visitors alike.
We want to hear from people with something to say on any topic—from recreation to politics and beyond, the voice of the Boundary community is our essence.
Question? Observation? Grievance? Please reach out to us via our contact form.
Note: Though the columns of The Advance are always open for the discussion of matters of public interest and importance, we do not necessarily endorse any of the opinions expressed. Correspondence of a personal nature will not be published.
