Canadians gathered over the weekend with friends and family to celebrate the annual fall harvest and tradition of gratitude known as Thanksgiving.
“This is a time to give thanks for the fall harvest and the blessing of the past year, and a time to give back to our communities,” B.C. Premier David Eby said in a statement.
Eby recognizes that “We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful, peaceful province.”
However, the Premier also acknowledged in his statement that “inflation and high interest rates have put a lot of pressure on people here.” (Keeping it light, Eby did not mention our province’s growing drug, mental health, and pollution crises).
“Our government is committed to continuing to address the big challenges people are facing so everyone can build a good life in B.C.,” the Premier offered. “This includes several measures to ease the pressure of everyday costs, including a historic $200-million investment to strengthen food supply throughout the province.”
At the Advance, we are thankful for the bounty of organic beauty and abundance of natural resources throughout the Boundary, where friendly neighbours cultivate the type of tight-knit community that Eby endeavours for British Columbians to foster.
“Thank you to everyone who is making B.C. a better place for others,” he said, “and happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating.”
