Government Supports Entrepreneurship in Rural B.C. with $4M Investment

Businesses in rural British Columbia play a pivotal role in the economy by creating jobs and thriving communities, according to a statement from the government, which celebrated entrepreneurship during the recent Economic Development Week.

As part of the event, the Canadian government announced financial support to the tune of $3.9 million for Community Futures British Columbia through the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada.

CFBC provides localized support through 34 different offices across B.C.

“Hard-working British Columbians throughout the province are pursuing their dreams and turning them into successful businesses,” stated Harjit Sajjan, Minister responsible for PacifiCan.  “Community Futures British Columbia [is] committed to making sure these entrepreneurs, including those in rural areas, have the support they need to succeed.”

“The financial support from PacifiCan is significant and will strengthen Community Futures’ capacity, giving us greater ability to continue to deliver quality and timely supports to the businesses in rural British Columbia,” stated Troy Dungate, Volunteer Chair Community Futures British Columbia.
