After seven years of rising homelessness, drug addiction, and cost of living in British Columbia, many took to the polls to express a desire for change.
A record one million British Columbia voted in advance, leading to a total above-average voter turnout of 57%, up from 54% during the previous election in 2020.
In Boundary Country, incumbent NDP representative Roly Russell was ousted by Conservative party member Donegal Wilson.
Wilson garnered more than 48% of votes for the Boundary-Similkameen electoral district, above Russell’s 42%.
Provincially, it’s an extremely close election, with neither party holding the required 47 seats for a majority government, and the ultimate result resting on a final count of mail-in ballots on October 26.
