After “careful deliberation,” the Village of Midway Council approved a 10% increase in municipal taxes for 2025.
The decision was made at a Special Council meeting earlier this month.
The increase in taxes—double the provincial average for 2025—is due to a” significant decrease in Class 4 Major Industry tax assessment in 2025 and the ongoing challenge of inflationary costs,” according to the Village Council.
Capital from the tax helps fund “critical” services such as road maintenance, sanitation, public safety, and local infrastructure projects, the Council noted.
