Snowpack Levels Above Normal in Boundary Country

Despite unseasonal warmth, current snowpack levels in Boundary Country are just fine, according to recent data from The River Forecast Centre.

British Columbia’s Snow Conditions and Water Supply Bulletin for the month of January shows Boundary snowpack levels at more than 132% of normal.

The West and East Kootenays are also well above normal levels, the stats say. The Okanagan is slightly below normal levels. The province as a whole sits at 107%.

December “was an active month for storm systems across the province,” according to the bulletin, contributing to higher-than-average figures.

In early January, “snow accumulated at a seasonal rate.”
