A handful of rate and fee changes take effect April 1 in British Columbia, with BC Hydro leading the list.
Hydro bills rise 3.75% on April 1, marking the second consecutive year of that increase. A typical household can expect to pay roughly $50 more per year.
Federal alcohol excise taxes also increase 2%, impacting retail prices on beer, wine, and spirits.
ICBC basic insurance rates remain unchanged. The province has now held basic rates flat for seven consecutive years.
