Local Muralist Archer Beautifies Grand Forks Courthouse with Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II

Grand Forks may have been the first city in the world to have an officially commissioned mural honouring the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

“#GrandForksBC woke up to a new look on the side of the Courthouse building today,” the City tweeted.

Commemorating the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, “renowned mural artist Archer worked through the night to produce a larger-than-life rendition of the queen,” reported the City.

Archer is a BC-based nomadic airbrush extraordinaire. He is known for painting at any scale, “from tiny murals on gas tanks to 12-storey buildings,” according to an online biographic of the artist, who “prides himself with his portraits of people and wildlife.”

Queen Elizabeth II passed on September 8, 2022—and the very same day Archer set out to beautify the Grand Forks courthouse in Boundary Country.
