Provincial Health Officer Rejects Calls for Mask Mandates in Boundary Country

British Columbia’s health officer has wisely dismissed calls for unethical mask mandates to be renewed in the province.

“We all need to learn about that tool and where it is best used,” Bonnie Henry said of masks, which see extremely low usage when not mandated the top-down powers.

“We are in a different situation now,” she added, noting at least 90% of British Columbians possess protection from COVID-19 through vaccination or infection or both.

As for demands for kids to mask up at school, Henry says children can always volunteer to wear masks should they so desire.

“We are not in a situation right now where I think every single child and adult in a school setting has to wear a mask all the time,” the public health officer stated.

To minimize chaos at hospitals, schools, and workplaces, Henry advised that anyone with symptoms of any respiratory illness to stay home and limit physical contact with others until recovered.
