Rock Creek Fall Fair is ‘Proud to Be Country’ in 2023

Last year, the Rock Creek and Boundary Fair Association resurrected the Fall Fair after Covid-19 receded.

Government restrictions had nearly snuffed out the longstanding tradition for good. But, despite a lack of fundraising during the Pandemic, RCBFA weathered the storm, staying afloat through two years of challenges.

In 2022, the event’s Diamond Jubilee milestone was at last celebrated. And now the “Biggest little country fair around” returns again for 2023.

The two-day Fall Fair exhibition in Rock Creek is happening over the late summer weekend of September 16th and 17th. A community event organized by volunteers, the Fair retains an emphasis on agriculture and home crafts, with animal shows and judging being a central part of the program.

Originally called the Rock Creek and Boundary Fair, the annual exhibition first opened in 1946 and has been a regular event ever since. Nearly a century later, the fair remains “proud to be country” regardless of what’s trending any given year (or decade).

“The fair began as a one day event to showcase agricultural products and to bring the community together for a day of fun,” organizers explain. The fair has expanded to two days and now includes other attractions, but “the country fair atmosphere remains.”

The venue for the event is a sixty-acre parcel with multiple buildings including a main pavilion decorated with local art and history.
