Community Futures Boundary operates as a catalyst for local economic development.
As part of a network of three dozen rurally located offices spread across the Province and more than 200 nationwide, CFB tailors services to the unique needs of its region.
Acting as a bridge between the local community and business investors, the Grand Forks office spearheads local initiatives and business retention efforts in collaboration with the Regional Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to foster a robust and resilient community that is capable of sustaining itself as well able to attract new investment for long-term growth.
Community Futures Boundary has carved out a niche for itself as a local lender, injecting funds into small businesses since 1992. But the organization also extends its role beyond finance, providing workshops and training programs designed to nurture small business owners and staff at various stages of business growth. CFB has established partnerships with Small Business BC and others to deliver such resources.
Community Futures Boundary collaborates with many government bodies including the Province of British Columbia, The City of Grand Forks, The City of Greenwood, The Village of Midway, and the Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary. The organization also liaises with The Grand Forks Credit Union, The Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Western Economic Diversification, Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, and Kootenay Career Development Society.
This diverse rolodex of partnerships empowers CFB to make contributions to the economic fabric of the region. In BC, the Community Futures network has created more than 1,400 jobs through investing $35 million combined across nearly 700 loans.
