Midway Village Completes Construction of Spray Park Ahead of Summer

Last year, the Advance reported on upgrades the Village of Midway will see to its parks infrastructure.

Securing capital in 2023 to move forward with its Park Enhancement Project—building a splash pad and outdoor washrooms at James McMynn Village Park—the new visitor attraction and service to the public “will increase tourism in the Boundary Area,” the Village of Midway stated last May.

The Province of British Columbia is provided most of the investment—more than $500,000—through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture via the Sport Destination Development Fund.

In September, ground broke.

“Construction on the Spray Park in the park is well under way,” a Village newsletter read.

By the start of 2024, construction was done. The project was completed “quickly and efficiently” thanks to an array of contributors, including PlaySpace Adventures, Pownall Construction, Shadow Creek Properties, Anvil Plumbing, Kettle Valley Electric, and Kreative Krete Designs.

The Spray Park at James McMynn Park is now ready to keep kids cool all summer long.

And in addition to upgrades to McMynn Park, efforts from residents with support from West Boundary Community Forest have led to an enhanced trail network on Midway Mountain

A park, including a disc golf course, is also planned for the area.
