Grand Opening in Grand Forks: McDonald’s Serving Boundary Starting April 19

Ronald McDonald is suiting up to serve Boundary Country starting April 19th, according to a Saturday update from the official “Castlegar, Trail, Creston & Grand Forks McDonalds” Facebook page.

Last year a permit was approved to build the fast food restaurant at the corner of Highway 3 and 27th Street, near Kal-Tire and the recently rebranded No Frills grocery store.

Love it or hate it, McDonald’s in the Boundary has been a long time coming.

The Grand Forks location is approximately 5,000 square feet in size and cost roughly $1.6 million to build.

The nearest other McDonald’s restaurants are in Osoyoos, Castlegar, and Trail.

The popular fast food restaurant competes for drive-through business in the growing Boundary hub with long-standing rivals A&W and Dairy Queen, as well as newcomer Tim Hortons, which launched in GF in 2022.
